CLASSICAL FACE STRECHING SURGERY


Generally around the age of 50, the face complexion becomes loose. The complexion whose one part becomes loose wrinkles concurrently. What is done in this operation is to take the extra skin and stretch the complexion. The face stretching operation has been performed almost for a century and that is why it is called the classical surgery. But in the last decade, revolutionary innovations have been made.

WHAT IS PERFORMED IN THIS OPERATION

Assume that the complexion is a fabric. What would you do if the fabric is large for the pillow that. You cut the extra part off. The face anatomy is more complicated than it seems and there are lots of details in this surgery. But generally what is done is to cut the extra skin on which the boundary of the intersection between cheek and ear. This cut generally continues from behind the whiskers into hairy skin and behind the ear into hairy skin. This surgery, in particular, fixes the pendency on the neck very well.

WHO IS THIS OPERATION CONVENIENT FOR?

The limit age for this operation is usually 50. People who exceed 50, usually benefits by this surgery very well. But people whose complexion is drooped or wrinkled can undergo this operation before that age. If you pull your cheeks back to your ears, you might have an idea about this surgery. If you suffer from the pendency on the neck in particular, this surgery might be convenient for you.

COMPLICATIONS AND THE PROBLEMS THAT CAN OCCUR

There is almost no risk of bleeding after this operation. However the possible, little accumulation of bleed (hematom) may create aesthetic problems. Hence it is essential to hold a pipe which vacuums the accumulation of blood underneath the skin called ‘dren’ at least one day.
Infection is one of the rare complications which can be seen after this surgery.
A serious infection may seldom emerge.
Skin loss may be a serious problem if you smoke or especially if you light a cigarette after the surgery. In this surgery skin is lifted as a thin layer and it is believed that the bloodstream inside is sufficient to feed the skin. However smoking messes up the prescience of the surgeon by obstructing the capillaries. If skin cannot take the blood enough it gets purple-black color starting from the closest point to ear, namely the hardest point for blood to reach. This means that in that region the recovery period extends and the signs that stays increase. Alopecia and no feeling in the hairy region could rarely happen. Nevertheless, the hair and feeling sense would definitely come back.

   









WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SURGERY

After this surgery, it may be seen a bit of puffiness in your face and a bit of lividness in your neck. In the first week, almost all of them disappear. There is no need to line in a hospital. But at the following day, you need to come back to the hospital to make the drens taken. It is good for you to stay at home in the first days. Generally you can have a shower in the 3rd day. After a few days, you can put make up in your face and you can go back to work after 1 week. The front ear suture will be taken after 5 days, the sutures in the hairy skin and behind the ears will be taken at the end of the first week.

THE REPORT OF THE SURGERY

Anesthesia: You can undergo the operation with local anesthesia. The anesthesia specialist would also apply an additional treatment which holds you in half-sleep. If you certainly ask for, you can have general anesthesia.
Where should the operation be performed: At a clinic or in a hospital operating room.
The duration of the surgery: 2,5-4 hours.
The duration of the rest in hospital: You may be dismissed at the same day.
The pain and ache after the operation: You may feel a bit ache for a few days. Generally it is adequate to take painkillers by mouth.
Puffiness and lividness: Middle degree, for 3-6 days.
Dressing: It is taken away totally at the first day. The drens are taken away at the following day. You can have a shower at the 3rd day.
Sutures: The sutures in front of the ears are taken at the 5th day and the sutures behind the ears at the 7th day. There are metal sutures on the hairy skin and those are taken at the 7th day also without pain.
When can be back at work: At the end of the first week.
Sports: After 2 weeks long joggings, 3 weeks later severe sports can be done. The sports that you can take damage like basketball are forbidden for 4 weeks.
Last shape: After a couple of weeks the last shape can be seen. But when you touch you feel that the front part of your ears is hard. These hardness stays for 3 months.
